WUST attended COCPDC, remotely connected with Siam University, and signed a contract

The International Education Cooperation Session of the 20th Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China 2020 (COCPDC) was held at the East Lake International Conference Center in Wuhan on November 19. Liu Jing, Vice President of Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST), delivered a keynote speech and signed a contract with the Siam University via a remote connection.

    The theme of the International Education Cooperation Session this year was "Building a Cooperation Platform, Promoting Educational Exchange". More than a dozen Chinese and overseas guests gave online or offline speeches. Eight pairs of Chinese and foreign colleges and universities signed contracts online during the session.

    Liu Jing delivered a speech on "International Education Cooperation and Exchange in the Context of Regular Pandemic Prevention and Control". The speech focused on WUST's experience and practices in the international education and teaching innovation and reform, new challenges and opportunities facing the university. The speech also shared WUST's experience and practices in upgrading international education operations and deepening international exchange and cooperation to highlight and transform achievements. Underpinned by the COCPDC platform, WUST signed a contract with the Siam University online. The two sides will cooperate and exchange on the feasibility of the Belt and Road Research Center, Chinese and Thai language training, and the doctoral program exchange as well.

    The conference was guided by the Central Working Group for the Introduction of Overseas High-Level Talents and hosted by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Wuhan Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Hubei Provincial Education Department. More than 300 representatives, teachers and students of Chinese and overseas colleges or universities discussed the establishment of a cooperation platform and the promotion of educational exchange, and signed contracts online or offline.

    Founded in 2001, COCPDC is based in Hubei and oriented toward the central and western regions to serve the whole country. It aims to attract talent and investment, and achieve win-win cooperation. It has become a well-known brand for attracting talent and investment in China's overseas Chinese affairs system, as well as a national business card for Hubei's opening to the outside world.
