Liu Jie刘玠(1943-), born in Shucheng County of Anhui Province, is an expert in Metallurgical Automation and Information Engineering, vice chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE), alternate member of CPC Central Committee, deputy to the National People’s Congress, a state-level expert with outstanding contribution. He was once the chairman, secretary of the Party Committee and general manager of Angang Group. After graduation from Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute (now Wuhan University of Science and Technology) with a degree in Metallurgical Machinery in July, 1964, he has been engaged in the research and development of computer control systems and mathematical models in the metallurgical industry, which won him a special prize, the first, second, and third prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award. He was elected as an academician of the CAE in November, 1997.
Su Yinao苏义脑 (1949.7-), born in Yanshi City of Henan Province, is a professor and doctoral supervisor, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), an outstanding expert in oil & gas drilling engineering. Graduated from Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute (now Wuhan University of Science and Technology), he once acted as a member of the 820 expert panel in Ocean Realm for the State 863 Program and assessor of State Science and Technology Awards in geomining engineering. He is currently vice director of Drilling Research Institute of RIPED (Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development), senior engineer, doctoral supervisor, member of Council for Science and Technology of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), director of Key Laboratory of Drilling Engineering and sits on 8 journal editorial boards, including Acta Petrolei Sinica. He receives 2 first prizes and 1 second prize for National Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 second prize for National Award for Technological Invention. He was elected as an academician of the CAE in 2003.
Mao Xinping毛新平(1965.6-), born in Ezhou City of Hubei Province, is a professor and doctoral supervisor, senior engineer, expert with special government allowances granted by the State Council, national talent elected for New Century Talents Project, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE) in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials. Graduated from Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute (now Wuhan University of Science and Technology) in 1989, he once acted as the deputy chief engineer and chief designer of Wuhan Iron & Steel Research Institute of the then Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, vice executive and chief engineer of Guangzhou Zhujiang Iron & Steel Co.,Ltd, director of CSP Applying Technology Institute of Guangzhou Iron & Steel Enterprises Group Co.,Ltd (GISE). Currently, he is the vice president of Central Research Institute, Baosteel, president of Wuhan Sub Institute, director of WISCO Limited Technology Center. He has been long engaged in metallurgical engineering, thin slab casting and rolling technical studies and development of low-cost and high-performance steel materials. He has won 3 second prizes for National Science and Technology Progress Award, 7 first prizes at provincial and ministerial levels, 1 the silver prize for national excellent design, 1 Chinese Patent Award of Excellence, together with 23 patented inventions. He was elected as an academician of CAE in 2015.
Xie Xianqi谢先启(1960.12-), born in Honghu City of Hubei Province, is an engineering blasting expert in China. Graduated from Wuhan University of Science and Technology with a Master Degree in mining engineering in 2003, he is now a senior engineer, doctoral supervisor, expert with special government allowances granted by the State Council, chairman of Wuhan Airport Development Group, chairman and leading expert of Wuhan Explosion & Blasting Co., Ltd. He also serves as rotating chairman of China Society of Engineering Blasting (CSEB), chairman of Hubei Society of Engineering Blasting and deputy editor of Blasting.

Du Ruxu杜如虚(1955.4-), born in Fujian Province, is an expert in machinery manufacturing and precision engineering, academician of the Canada Academy of Engineering, director of Precision Engineering Institute at Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), professor in Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering Computer Engineering, associate director of Centre for Innovation and Technology, director and researcher of Precision Engineering Center of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Graduated from Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute (Now Wuhan University of Science and Technology) with a BS degree in electrical engineering in 1980, he has been engaged in the related researches of precision manufacturing for many years. He was elected as an academician of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Manufacturing and the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2009, 2012 and 2017 respectively.
Wu Kaiming吴开明(1966-) is the foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, professor and doctoral supervisor of WUST, executive vice-President of International Research Institute for Steel Technology, vice-president of Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center for High Performance Steel Materials and its Application. Professor Wu has long been dedicated to the research of refining, continuous casting and phase transformation of high-performance steel materials. He is also one of the pioneers in such researches as domestic marine steel materials, bridge steel materials and nano-structural steel. The research achievements made by Professor Wu and his team have been widely applied in many fields, including China ocean engineering and railway bridge construction. Applications based on their researches can also be found in some famous bridges, such as Wuhan Tianxingzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Shanghai-Nantong Railway Yangtze River Bridge and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. He was elected into “New Century Excellent Talents Program” launched by Ministry of Education in 2006, and was elected as foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering in January, 2018.
